John Amis is Professor of Strategic Management & Organisation at the University of Edinburgh where he is also Co-Director of the Centre for Strategic Leadership. He is also a Visiting Professorial Fellow at the University of New South Wales. His research, largely centring on issues of organisational, institutional and societal change, has been published in leading journals that include Academy of Management Annals, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, American Journal of Public Health, Human Relations, Journal of Management Studies, Organisation Science and Organisation Studies. He is Co-Editor-in-Chief at Organisation Studies and a former Associate Editor at Academy of Management Review. He is a former Chair of the Organisation Development & Change division of the Academy of Management and Chaired the Organising Committee for the European Group for Organisational Studies Colloquium held in Edinburgh in 2019. In 2022 he won the Best Published Paper Award from the Organisation & Management Theory Division of the Academy of Management and has twice been runner-up for the Academy of Management Journal’s annual Best Paper Award. He was also a recipient of the University of Memphis Distinguished Teaching Award.
